Welcome to our June classroom web page!!! I can't believe we are at the end of another school year. Thanks to everyone for a great year!!!
Here is an overview of June's happenings:
Math
Chapter 19 will take up our focus in June. This chapter focuses on long division. Remember to study multiplication and division every night.Reading
We are finishing the year with a literature circle reading study of "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing". This is a fun book--ask your student about the story.Spelling
review spelling patterns.Grammar
reviewWriting
Four Square and six traits of writing is our focus. Our new reading series has integrated writing. The Four Square is a more formal writing but we also focus on informal writing in our journals. The informal writing can be integrated into every subject and is a great way of getting ideas down on paper and also help students to become better problem solvers. Our writing portfolios will go home at the end of every marking period. All contents will stay in the portfolio until the end of the year in order to see the growth your child will experience as a writer from the beginning of the year.Health
The three aspects of health will be studied throughout the year; physical, emotional, and social. We will also explore character traits and how they have a direct effect on our everyday lives.Social Studies
Communities near and far is the focus through the year. This month our focus will be learning about different types of communities.Science
This month we will learn inventions and inventors. We are working on an exciting invention project with Mrs. Leary's class.Assignment Books
Please sign your student's assignment books every night. This is also a good form of communication because they get checked every morning along with any homework. The students earn "Busler Bucks" that they can cash in after saving 15 of them by having homework completed. They cash them in for many different rewards like sitting with a friend for the day, free ice cream, no homework in one subject, or spelling review teacher.
