Mrs. Amato's Third Grade Class We're Partners In Learning
![]()

Welcome to our March web page! A special thanks goes out to all the parents who made our Valentine's Day Party so much fun! Here's an outline of what we'll be working on in each of our subjects this month.
READING
We are working in our new book, and our theme for Unit Four is "One of a Kind." This unit has us thinking about what it means to be unique. Students can improve their fluency by rereading our story of the week at home with Mom or Dad. Drill and practice new vocabulary words every night so you'll be ready for the comprehension/vocabulary quiz on Friday.
GRAMMAR
Unit Four has us working with the proper usuage of all types of pronouns. We will be doing some "Rootin' Tootin' Writin'" each day incorporating the "6 Traits of Writing" and learning how to add "spice" to our writing to make it more enjoyable to our audience.
SPELLING
Weekly spelling lists will be introduced on Monday, practiced throughout the week, and tests will be given on Friday. Remember to practice and study your words every night to be one of the "Best in the West" spellers!
MATH
We are working on Multiplication and Division concepts and skills which are covered in Chapter 7. We are drilling and practicing our multiplication facts each day to help increase speed and accuracy. Continue to drill and practice every night. Be sure to look for the blue multiplication study folder which will be going home each night with our new set of facts.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Communities is our theme for the year. We will learn about communities in our country and around the world. We will see
how we are the same and what makes us different.
SCIENCE
Just like scientists, we will be studying topics such as the animal and plant kingdoms, the solar system, our body, and many others. Our units can be more interesting to the students by following up at home with discussions, projects, experiments, and a good book you can find on the topic.
HEALTH
Our Health lessons this year will concentrate on what's important for a healthy lifestyle. We will study safety, nutrition, dental health, medicines and drugs, our body, and Character Counts.
PENMANSHIP
This year we are learning all of our cursive letters and their connections in words. We are starting with the lowercase letters. Try to practice your letters each day.
PARENTS:
Remember to review and sign your child's homework assignment book and folder each night. This is the best way to keep on top of assignments, tests, and projects. Sign the book when your child has completed all of his or her homework. You can help your child be more successful by helping them keep their folders organized, pencils sharpened, and schoolbags backed with their books and supplies for the next day. These little things really make a difference! Thanks in advance for your help and support!
