Mrs. Hoffmann
BSI

Dear Parents,
Spring is here and hopefully the rain will stop. After all of that snow and rain, I'm ready for some sunshine. One thing that we are getting ready for is the NJASK test in May. One more month to prepare! The children continue to work hard and pratice their test-taking skills.
The BSI program has changed this year. The children are being serviced by either in-class support(Push-In) or being taken from their rooms(Pull-Out)during enrichment time. This way we can help many more children than in previous years. The students will be seen by myself for language arts at least twice a week. We will be working on the same skills and use the same vocabulary words as the classroom teacher so that the skills will be reinforced.
I will be listening to the children's oral reading to check for fluency and decoding words. Studies have shown that fluent readers are usually able to comprehend a story. We are reinforcing the same skills that the children are learning in the classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, you may call or e-mail me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Maureen Hoffmann
