Sixth Grade Scientists Explore Owl Pellets
Students in Mrs. Zemaitatis and Ms. Reim’s sixth-grade science classes recently became forensic scientists as they dissected owl pellets to uncover the eating habits of these fascinating birds of prey. The hands-on activity allowed students to examine the undigested bones, fur, and other remains found within the pellets, helping them analyze food chains and predator-prey relationships in ecosystems.
Through careful observation and classification, students identified various small animal skeletons, reinforcing their understanding of adaptations, digestion, and ecological interactions. This engaging lesson not only sparked curiosity but also provided a deeper appreciation for nature’s complex balance.

District Faculty and Staff Trained in Life-Saving CPR and Emergency Response
During the recent March District Professional Learning Day, over 50 faculty and staff members across the Township of Franklin Public Schools participated in vital emergency response training, focusing on CPR and Stop the Bleed concepts. These life-saving skills are essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of our school community.
The training was led by Mr. Theodore Peters, Reutter School Principal and District School Safety Specialist, along with Mrs. Jessica Swanfeld, MFJ School Nurse. Participants learned critical techniques, including response to individuals with an obstructed airway, proper AED use, and methods to control severe bleeding in emergency situations.

Approved 2025-2026 School Year Calendar.

Dear Staff and Parents,
I want to inform you of a calendar adjustment due to the snow day we experienced this past April. Originally, Friday, May 23, 2025, was designated as a professional development day for staff with no school for students. However, to make up for the lost instructional time, we will now hold an early dismissal day for students on May 23.
Each school will provide additional reminders as we approach the date, but we wanted to share this update as soon as possible to assist with your planning.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child’s school or the district office.
Sincerely,
Brian Betze
